i want to tile my fireplace hearth and surround, any concerns with heat from gas logs?

Answers:

1Ceramic tile is pressed and fired in kilns at 1000 degree temperatures,so there really is no "special tile" made for fireplaces.

Any cermic, marble, granite of tumbled stone is suitable for use.As previously advised, just dont adhere to the firebox itself.

Good Luck ,hope it truns out beautfiul.
