Answers:
1Open the windows, shut off the A.C. and close the damper on your fireplace flue. If you really want it air-tight, you can put some insulation around the damper. Sorry- this may be uncomfortable on hot days but at least it wont smell.
Burn some incense too..
Or you could reline the system and get an efficient draft when you need it and no sooty crevices to stink up your living space when you don't.
If you try a chimney service co. like Innovative Chimney Corp., they can do it,
