i have had my new home for three years which has a gas fireplace, with logs, which vents into the house with the front being a metal mesh. i continue to try and burn the fireplace however there is a strong odor of paint/kerosene every time i burn it.

i had a person out who checked out the fireplace and said it seems to be burning fine however the odor is so strong my eyes start shortly after burning. i have had it lit for hours with the window open and the smell continues at the same intensity each time. any ideas?
