very strong fireplace odor whenever dew point goes over 60. | |
i've only been in this house 3 years...never used the fireplace.
the smell is so strong we can't sit in there until the dew point falls below 60. i've washed the stone around the fireplace twice now. it hasn't helped. i've sprayed the ceiling nearest the fireplace with a solution of bleach and water. it hasn't helped, either.
could the odor be comint from the ceiling? it's the old specked type and i was told that it would be expensiive to smooth it and then paint it. (i'm not a painter, and would have to hire one.)
please help! i want to enjoy our family room.
thankk you.....
